Research
Maria is interested in investigating the genetic factors underlying natural variation in drug responses, particularly with anthelmintic compounds and novel small molecules. She uses a combination of high-throughput screening and wild isolates to tease out the variants responsible for drug resistance and sensitivity. Outside of the lab, Maria has a high interest in career development and exploration, actively participating in student groups such as the Life Science Career Development Society (LSCDS) and the University of Toronto Consulting Association (UTCA).
